If you find yourself in distress and want someone to talk with, call 988 In Georgia – offered by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities

Call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL)

Right now, anyone experiencing a suicidal crisis or emotional distress should call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL) at 1-800-715-4225 or download the My GCAL app, available on both iOS and Android devices. GCAL is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.

The gradual implementation of the 9-8-8 hotline has the potential to become a vital resource in addressing Georgia’s mental health crisis. Our state currently ranks 31st in the nation for suicide deaths. Between 2019 and 2020, while urban areas in Georgia saw a slight decrease in suicides, rural communities experienced an 8.3% increase. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, from April 2020 to April 2021, Georgia witnessed a concerning 36% rise in overdose deaths. These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible mental health support across our state.

We want you to know that you matter. We pray that you find healing, hope and transformation in the process of experiencing difficult situations and grow stronger from adversity you have faced.
