SUPPORTING VASHTI EVENTS SUPPORTS MENTAL HEALTH

COMMUNITY MEET & GREET
WITH OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Friday, May 15 | 7 -9:30 am

GRassroots Coffee Co. | 118 S. Broad Street

The board of directors of The Vashti Center for Children & Families is pleased to announce Suzanne Litherland as the organization’s next executive director. Litherland began her tenure on April 20 after serving for ten months in a consulting capacity during the search process.

The community is invited to a Meet & Greet breakfast to welcome Suzanne and thank interim director Jim Bue on Friday, May 15 from 7:30 – 9:00 am at Grassroots Coffee. Free and open to the public.

The event will also celebrate Mental Health Month, observed internationally each May. This year’s theme — More Good Days, Together — encourages citizens to reflect on what a “good” day looks like, both for people and for communities. The Meet & Greet is free and open to the public, and the first 20 guests will receive a complimentary cup of Butterfly Blend coffee, Grassroots’ special Mental Health Month brew created especially for Vashti. Proceeds from the purchase of Butterfly Blend support the mission and programs of the Vashti Center.

Hands-On Volunteer Events at Vashti

Pavilion, Picnic Area and Painting Refresh
When: Call to Schedule
Time: Call to Schedule
Where: 1815 E Clay Street, Thomasville, GA (Park behind Remur Young or in front of Bishop Hall)
At the Vashti Center, we believe that every space on our campus has the potential to promote healing, connection, and growth. Our Pavilion is one of those special places—a gathering spot for our youth, team, and community to come together, find peace, and enjoy the outdoors.
To ensure that this area remains welcoming and beautiful for our Fall event season, we’re focused on refreshing our Pavilion and Freedom Memorial.

Here’s what we’ll be working on:

  • Sweeping and cleaning the pavilion
  • Scrubbing the bathroom facilities
  • Weeding around the pavilion and freedom memorial areas
  • Revitalizing the kitchen area’s original cast iron and sink
  • Sealing holes in screens
  • Pressure washing areas
  • Fixing holes in wood
  • Replacing drywall in bathroom (small section only)
  • Organizing debris to prepare for hauling
  • Painting Adirondack chairs
  • Burning small debris in fire pit
Whether you’re handy with a broom, have a green thumb, or just want to lend a hand with your nifty tools, we’d love to have you join us! Every bit of help makes a big difference in keeping our campus beautiful and ready for the upcoming season to share experiences in community.
